Linn Animal Hospital North

We have been taking our cats to Linn Animal North for over twenty years and have been happy with their service, however, on our last visit, our cat needed a shot and when the technician came in she asked me to hold my cat. As I was holding him, she injected the cat and must have hit a nerve, my cat reacted and bit down on my finger with his razor sharp teeth and cut down to the bone. Ouch! My finger will be okay, but it was a pretty painful experience. I have to ask myself when I'm paying over $400 for their services that day, why didn't they have an assistant hold the cat? There were several outside the office just talking and she could have asked one of them. Here is my finger a week later, still healing.

Normally, I have a really good experience at Linn Animal Hospital-North, and Dr. Toy has always been absolutely amazing with my pets. That’s honestly what makes what happened this morning so upsetting and disappointing for me. Around 8 a.m., my dog stepped on a broken beer bottle just a short distance from the vet office. Her paw was bleeding pretty badly, so I immediately brought her inside. I wasn’t expecting them to drop everything or provide a bunch of treatment for free. I was scared and just hoping someone could help me check whether there was still glass in her paw or at least help me get the bleeding under control. Instead, I was told I would need to schedule an appointment for $84 and that they couldn’t see her until 10 a.m. Meanwhile, my dog was literally standing there bleeding on their waiting room floor. What really hurt was that no one seemed particularly concerned or offered any kind of assistance, advice, or even help getting the bleeding under control. I completely understand that veterinary offices have schedules, policies, and fees. I wasn’t asking for free veterinary care. But when you walk into an animal hospital with your dog actively bleeding, you hope there will at least be some compassion and concern for the animal in front of them. I left feeling incredibly upset and honestly a little heartbroken. Our pets are family, and seeing my dog hurt and bleeding was already scary enough. Walking into a place I trusted for help and leaving feeling like the appointment fee mattered more than my injured fur baby made the situation so much worse. I’ve had genuinely good experiences here before, especially with Dr. Toy, and I really hope today was an isolated incident. But I can’t give 5 stars after the way my dog and I were treated this morning. I expected more compassion from a place I’ve trusted with the care of my pets.
